AHI Applauds Ambassador Miller’s Op-ed on CyprusWASHINGTON, DC —The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) applauds Ambassador Thomas J. Miller’s op-ed “Cyprus Should Be Reunited as One Country” that appeared in The Huffington Post on November 29, 2010. Ambassador Miller is a former American ambassador to Greece and former U.S. Special Coordinator to Cyprus. In his op-ed, Ambassador Miller states “a solution short of a bicommunal bizonal federation with a single sovereignty cannot be accepted within this [UN] framework.” “Ambassador Miller’s op-ed is further confirmation that former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw’s proposal of partition for Cyprus is simply off-base,” said Executive Director Nick Larigakis. “We welcome the ambassador’s excellent commentary in which he maintains that a solution based on a bicommunal bizonal federation with a single sovereignty, a position that enjoys international support, should not be abandoned.” To read Ambassador Miller op-ed, please click here. The former ambassador is currently President/CEO of International Executive Service Corps. The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
