AHI Welcomes Greece's Alternate Defense Minister to Hellenic HouseWASHINGTON, DC —Greece’s Alternate Defense Minster, Panagiotis Beglitis, visited the American Hellenic Institute’s (AHI) Hellenic House on November 3, 2010. “We sincerely thank Alternate Defense Minister Beglitis for taking the time from his itinerary to visit Hellenic House and meet with us,” said Executive Director Nick Larigakis. The alternate minister commended AHI for its many initiatives in support of a strong U.S.-Greece relationship and its foreign policy study abroad student program. In addition, the discussion explored areas of mutual cooperation. Deputy Chief of Mission Ioannis Vrailas, Col. Taxiarchis Sardellis, military attaché, Embassy of Greece; Ioanna Krebardi, counselor, Embassy of Greece; and Dimitri Chronopoulos, director general of Defense Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defense, accompanied Alternate Minister Beglitis. AHI Board of Directors Secretary Nicholas Karambelas, Board of Directors Members James Marketos and Kostas Alexakis also participated. Executive Director Nick Larigakis led the discussion. The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
