AHI Announces Its 35th Anniversary Gala Honorees

Greek American Excellence in Business, Philanthropy, Public Service, and the Arts to be Recognized

WASHINGTON, DC —The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) will honor excellence in a variety of industry sectors at its 35^th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner, Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Capital Hilton, Washington, DC.  Reception begins at 6 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m.

“We are proud to honor a fantastic group of Greek Americans,” said Executive Director Nick Larigakis.  “The honorees are all proud of their Hellenic heritage, and they have excelled in their respective professions or industries during their careers.”

The 2010 honorees are:

1. John Aniston, award-winning actor;
2. Peter Karmanos, Jr., chairman & CEO, Compuware Corporation; owner, Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League; and philanthropist;
3. Niki Leondakis, COO, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants;
4. Emanuel L. “Manny” Rouvelas, partner, K&L Gates LLP and supporter of Hellenic educational endeavors; and
5. Congressman John Sarbanes (D), Third Congressional District of Maryland.

Former CBS News Anchor and Communications Consultant Thalia Assuras will emcee the dinner program.
